photoless

Are you still here?

I really haven't meant to be so quiet. I have been trying and trying to upload photos to share here with you, but Blogger isn't working quite right...

I hope you understand and are still hanging out here at the farm with me. I walked around this morning when the dew was still covering spider webs and dripping off of the leaves from the apple trees. So much wandering around the farm and taking photo after photo. Pretty soon I had taken 70 in about a 15 minute period. I couldn't believe it.

Taking pictures gives me such happiness...kind of like when I just finish sewing a handbag and hold it out in front of me as a whole bag for the first time.

such pleasure

There's nothing like making something with your own hands...or seeing something from your perspective and capturing it in a photo to share with others. I really hope that Blogger fixes it soon because I have some photos of the clothesline (yep, that's right...the clothesline!) that I am excited to show you. xo

overflowing

Yesterday I took Aliss and Sophie to their first lessons in voice and piano. Aliss is taking the voice lessons. For years I have loved to listen to her singing from her bedroom, especially when she sings along with Judy Garland..oh, then she melts my heart. I am excited to see what pleasure this brings her and to see where it leads her in singing.

Sophie is taking piano. I have to say that I teared up sitting there yesterday watching her first lesson. I took piano for a short time when I was around 6 years old and remember it very vividly. This is significant because many of my childhood memories are buried, yet memories of visiting my teacher's home, the smell of it, the beautifully polished furniture and oh(!) the m&m packages of candy when the lesson was over. As I sit here sharing this with you I am remembering the most important thing that I cherish though; something that was only mine. Such a sweet memory from my girlhood.

Back to the present; watching Sophie reacting in all of the ways a new student does. Wonder, frustration and excitement...fingers play what I am telling you to. What? You are telling me that I am going to count different for each different looking note? oh boy...

I have to say the thing that blesses me THE MOST is the teacher that God hand-picked for my girls to study under. Oh this mom is blessed, pleased and downright giddy at the thought of my children spending weekly time with her:

If you take a minute to head over to her link you will be blessed and I will go as far as to suggest that the days worries may even slip away as you listen to her play and sing...she is that good!

coming home

Well hello there Daisy

You are such a sweetie to wait for your mama

It's nice to be home

heading to the pasture

 I couldn't help but take photo after photo on my walk to the pasture a couple of days ago...the sun was out, birds were chirping their autumn song and the air was cool and crisp.

 The scenery is changing so much day to day. I haven't lived in this home through the autumn months and am amazed at the beauty that is here. Apple trees with branches boughed with fruit, some blooming flowers still as we head into the cold...even the leaves that lay on the grass...

 { This Moment }

A Friday ritual.
A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week.
A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

on the farm :: fruit

I am going to be a very busy woman next year....applesauce, apple pie filling, dehydrated apple rings. You get the picture. This year we didn't get as many apples as there normally is because of the spring weather we had. Even so the kids and I have taken great pleasure in walking out to the yard and picking an apple off of one of the seven apple trees that we can chose from. Seven! We are so loving that.

 There is also a Ginormous (!) grape arbor. It is amazing...Lewis really built things of quality when he lived here. It looks like a large chia pet gone crazy doesn't it. Someone has been secretly feeding it miracle grow. Add learning to prune a grape arbor to my list of new things to do. Not too much pruning though because I am clearing out the weeds under there so Sophie and Hannah can have a secret place to play. It really is that big under there and they will have so many great memories.

fall

 Fall is here and one of the signs of fall to me is to plant mums
Mums, Mums, Mums!

Been busy cleaning out the beautiful landscaping here in our new home. I did an initial trimming and clearing this spring.
Boy, do things grow fast!
I was a little timid this spring in trimming and thought that I would kill things.

This isn't the first time I had trimmed things mind you, but the first time I am trimming landscaping that is mature and I sure didn't want to be the one to do it in.

Just found out that the tree above is a fig tree...go figure.
  Many, many treasure to be discovered...and much history of this house and the area of Melbourne to learn.
