SNOW :: Yes, In Western Washington

Floating; large and wet or small and hard we'll take it! SNOW...the answer to the February humdrums of being so tired of rain. Sledding in the gully of the neighbors horse pasture, homemade hot cocoa in thermos's, mugs of cocoa on the porch swing, piano songs ringing through the house and LOTS of snow clothing by the fire.

It's just what we needed.

Happy Monday to you!

Guinea Pigs increase learning

{ This Moment }

A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week.
A simple, special, extraordinary moment.
A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

my sweet Daisy

all tucked in

let's talk about the weather

this morning Aliss has sausage sizzling on the stove while potatoes wait to be added.
I am sitting here chatting with you. Just finished reading an email from my professor at college telling me about the speaker who will visit this weekend at class.
The dogs are laying about; Bear just laying and Daisy chewing a rawhide bone like its jerky.
Cockatiels are reminding me its time to uncover their cage and the sun is breaking though the thick white clouds for a moment.

Sophie and Hannah took a walk in the sunshine with me yesterday. We headed down Melbourne and found our neighbor in her yard with her full-sized pig following her like a dog. What a sight! the girls ran over to pet her (the pig, not the neighbor lol).
We walked around her yard talking about the Canadian Geese who are landing across the river from her house and we see flying in, firewood to last the end of winter and proper ways to use the chainsaw to save our backs, labs who run amuch and we still love them and more.

I love chatting with my neighbors.

little spikes of green are growing out of the earth into taller spikes of green...primroses have flowers on them and peonies and rhubarb are peeking red nubs up too...

Can you feel it? It's not here all of the way yet...soon. Soon.

shoveling dirt

I think of writing to you several times a day about our days here on Melbourne Road. But then I don't have a picture to share...that is sad really. The lack of pictures.

I did get some photos the other day when Hannah, Sophie and I did some gardening.

We put on our rubber boots a few days ago on a sunny day and headed out to the pasture. We brought with us a wheelbarrow and shovels. We were on a mission to save daffodils.

The loan that we are getting to buy this house is including the exterior lap siding to be replaced for many reasons. Well, alongside the house skirting are numerous little green spikes shooting up out of the dirt. I couldn't bear for them to get crushed when the siding gets torn off and replaced so we are finding other gardens to transplant them into.

The next step is to move the peonies that are there to a safe place too.

morning walk

sunshine on my back
dogs scampering here and there following a scent
daffodil and crocus spikes peeking through to stretch toward the sun
neighbor drives by and we wave
wood smoke dancing and twirling from the stove pipe until it can't be seen any longer above the trees
fog laying on the pasture

such an encouraging morning to walk in the quiet and enjoy without being hurried

Are you taking any time to s-l-o-w down? I hope so.
